BIRDS DON’T

hoard worms

decimate their trees

build nests on the ground

wield arms

draw lines

build armies

finance leaders

set clocks

save for retirement

bottle water

bury nukes

sell prescriptions

birds don’t

rollerblade Venice beach

share drone-shot experience

rage against the dying of the light

graffiti trains

shelter strangers

explore new planets

prevent polio

fill libraries

clothe babies

invade countries

birds do

dance in rain

communicate love

cherish family

observe sunsets

snuggle in frigidness

prepare for seasons

nurture youth

love long

die gracefully

trains, planes, automobiles

we cry for the sky

maybe a nest

well cared for

in balance

just

what is needed

keep a clean coat

dine from clean yards

rest, dip slow, into setting suns

make friends

stay curious

rollerblades on beaches

then, pots for flowers

cure illness, build bridges

leave the arms at the door

snuggle hard

plan, and prepare

explore new horizons

but not needed as a drug

sit still

and observe the dying light

another is coming

new dawns always break

ashes always rise

but for now

this light

give the body rest

true rest

water and exercise

keep yer nose clean

and feed the soul

no walls

no teams, no tribes

no my flag, land, holy land

mourn the dead

tribute fathers

sing the songs of the founders

build on it

and learn from it

and

move on

money?

trade?

commerce?

breathe, be

just be

enough is enough

humans weren’t bred to make a world

go round

humans weren’t bred to make a world

that must last

now is enough

another is coming

new dawns always break

ashes always rise

but for now

this light

tea is nice

lasagna’s gravy

but veggie maybe

the balanced bird diet

meat and plant based

nothing in excess

all natural

no suffering

all sustainable

fun and scrumptious

but not hoarded

nothing gluttonous

feed a body, fuel

nothing more

now and gone

another is coming

new dawns always break

ashes always rise

but for now

this light
